Coming Soon: PEELED, Calgary's First Edition Of Cocktail Festival
For all you cocktail lovers (including myself), PEELED, an annual Calgary-based cocktail festival is happening on August 7th, 12th to 14th, 2017. Created by BassBus and In-Houze Productions, PEELED is a collaborative effort between spirits companies, mixologists, food and beverage purveyors, event planners and media to develop and grow the cocktail community in Calgary. The weekend will feature seminars, tastings, networking opportunities at various venues around Calgary.

For its first year, the festival will offer many different types of “cocktail interactions” and curated cocktail experiences at over 14 venues in the city including: Bank and Barron, Klein/Harris, Last Best, Milk Tiger, Model Citizen, Native Tongues, Proof, One18 Empire, Ox Bar de Tapas, Raw Bar, Ricardo’s Hideaway, Sub Rosa, and The Derrick Gin Mill. “Guests will experience amazing creations and meet the talent behind their making including workshops with world renowned Dale DeGroff, aka King Cocktail and author of “The Craft Of The Cocktail”, as well as Jack McGarry of Dead Rabbit NYC who was awarded the world’s best new cocktail bar.”

The mission of this cocktail festival “is to grow industry talent and educate the public alongside the industry’s development to make Calgary one of Canada’s cocktail destinations, similar to what has been done with Calgary’s culinary scene since Top Chef brought Calgary international acclaim”. The PEELED Cocktail Festival weekend will be turned into a playground for the cocktail curious. The public can purchase a ticket where they will be given a passport that tells the story of the spirit, venue and mixologist, to explore a variety of cocktail experiences around Calgary.
