The 2017 Canadian International Fashion Film Festival
(CANIFFF)

The Canadian International
Fashion Film Festival (CANIFFF) returns to Calgary on May 26th
to May 28th. I cannot stress how important it is to support this
festival and what it means to connect Canadian talents to rest of the world.
The 2nd annual event will once again create the rare opportunity within an intimate and friendly space
that allows fashion talents, artists and filmmakers to connect, engage and share
creative ideas.
There are over 300 submissions
from 34 different countries this year. It amazes me how much and fast this
festival has grown in little less than a year. Whether you’re in the industry
or not, there’s bound to be at least one film that will inspire you, take you
into the deeper discussion of what makes a good fashion film.
The founders of the festival, Katrina Olson-Mottahed, Rania Al-Naimi and Zai Mamdani have spent incredible amount of time and effort,
traveling around the world to meet and scout some of these international
fashion films for their audience. Filmmakers of various countries will come to Calgary for the
first time to attend – In exchange what an honest way to share our Canadian
spirits to our visitors, especially when 2017 will mark the 150th
birthday of Canada.
It was an honor again to be invited
as one of the programming committee members of CANIFFF. Though I will not be
able to attend this year’s event, I am really excited for all the nominees of
the 13 award categories, judged by a panel of fashion and film experts from
across the globe. I do have a few favorites in mind, but no spoiler here – You
should all check out CANIFFF to find out more info of the festival and tickets.
I can assure you all that this is not your typical fashion/film event in
Calgary.
