The Calgary Polo Club Offers Exclusive Social Membership

The Calgary Polo Club Offers Exclusive Social Membership

I always joke to my friends that Calgary’s summer lasts about two seasons – July and August. Yes, it’s rather short but Calgarians learned how to make the most out of it.

While the Calgary Stampede is over, there are still other outdoor spectacles where one can enjoy as a group, especially if you like to watch riders and horses on the field.
This season, I became a social member/ ambassador of the Calgary Polo Club. Before I was introduced to all of this, I had no clue that there is a polo club in this city. In fact, the polo club has been around since 1890. Located along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains, the 300 plus acres field attracts competitive polo players to play matches. It even offers a Riding & Polo Academy taught by professional instructors.

As a social member for the Calgary Polo Club, you do not need to own a horse or know how to play polo. An annual membership fee of $250 per couple or family lets you and your friends to enjoy watching polo matches up close in a reserve members-only area, complete with white tent, tables and chairs.
The social membership also gives you the opportunity to VIP invites and gets you access to members-only events. You will have the flexibility to bring your own picnic or ask the polo club to work out catering services if you have a large group. The Ranch House is also available to book for parties for up to 120 people.
I am rather excited to watch the polo games on Sunday afternoons. It is an honored to be an ambassador for the Calgary Polo Club. For the occasion, I was in a photo shoot at the club few weeks ago with my fellow Calgary Polo Club ambassadors Katrina-Olson Mottahed, Erica Cook, Ellen Parker, and Satvinder Flore. We got our ‘lavish’ looks thanks by Tiffany Burns, and the ladies got their hair done by Swizzlesticks Salonspa.

Make sure to check out the Calgary Polo Club Social Member profiles HERE and please do join us, we’d love to see you one of the Sunday games in August!

Third Annual PACKWOOD GRAND – Day At The Race Track To Celebrate Canada Day

Third Annual PACKWOOD GRAND
Day At The Race Track To Celebrate Canada Day
(Photos by: Binzento)
Spending Canada at the racetrack is becoming a tradition since the launch of Packwood Grand in 2014. The third annual, Kentucky Derby-inspired event once again sets foot at the Century Downs Racetrack & Casino. Leaving behind their traditional western-style cowboy hats, plaid shirts and denim jeans, Calgarians came in stylish spring/summer fashions  - Ladies in vibrant floral dresses and beautifully decorated fedoras; Gents in eye-catching blazers, bold color trousers and loafers. Added to this year in my ‘Packwood Grand experience book’ was an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour. I was taught with some betting 101 basics, enjoyed learning about the years of prohibition in Alberta and the inspiration behind Packwood Grand. I also got the first hand to taste this year’s signature cocktail “The Packwood” created by Packwood’s official mixologist, Conrad Meers. Luckily Mother Nature has spared us a beautiful sunny day, we even got a little bit of breeze towards the end. Big congrats to the Executive Producers Tyler Rygus and Cory Edwards, as well as the Packwood Grand team for another year of successful event.
