ECCO Brings Danish Footwear Aesthetic To YYC Chinook Centre

Many of you may have noticed the new ECCO boutique in Chinook Centre YYC. I remembered owning a pair of ECCO when I was in middle school, they were one of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned as a kid. What I didn’t get educated when I was a kid was that the brand started in the 60’s in Denmark. Focusing high quality leather, ECCO is one of a few European labels that have kept all production in house – starting from manufacturing leather to creating beautifully crafted shoe products.
This fall is all about remembering the tradition while incorporating modern technology. The Soft 7 in particular follow the ideal Scandinavian design philosophy where the ‘shoe must follow the foot’. Made from premium quality leather and ECCO’s unique Comfort Fibre System™, Soft 7’s functionality, comfort and durability are obvious elements to notice as soon as you slip them on. The design, which comes in high top, sneakers, slip on and tie on, is made for the stylish minimalist who chases after versatile classic looks. Another cool design this season is the porferated soft leather sneakers. The laser cut-like patterns added edginess to the shoes. I am also amazed by the softness of the shoes. Though they are made from cowhide, the way the leather is treated has created a lamb skin-like texture.
The latest Chinook Centre location follows the design generation known as “Unity Upgrade”, which serves as a representation of ECCO’s Scandanavian roots. It exemplifies the brands vision of flexibility, lightness, softness and comfort. The boutique is 1,300 sq ft with an interior and décor compose of leather, oak, stainless steel and slate stone. In addition to footwear, the Calgary’s Chinook Centre ECCO boutique also carries leather accessories and handbag products.
