Dîner en Blanc YYC 2015
(photos by: Binzento)

YYC’s third annual Dîner en Blanc was successfully held
last week at a “secret” location just a few blocks away from Eau Claire Market,
right next to the Peace Bridge. Fortunately
the weather was beautiful and sunny, we could leave all of our rain-protection
gear in the car and have one less thing to carry. And thank God we didn’t have
to walk 10 miles this time (I can live walking 5 blocks while carrying 30 lbs
of stuff). How I wish though that it was on the other-side of the bridge on
Memorial Drive and not beside a construction site.
The all-white-themed dinner party
should be a fine spectacle – I wonder if anyone living in the condos near by
took any photos from high above. At least as far as I know there was a drone
stalking us the whole time, which makes me think whether I was on my best
behavior and not done anything embarrassing.

Dîner en Blanc is a
French-tradition, but knowing Calgary we’ll always add a little twist. Several
art installations can be seen on site. Sadly they were only on one side of the
dining area. Where I was sitting would have no clue of the art displays
unless I walk over. I’m happy where I was sitting though….next to the alcohol
table.
My most favorite part of this year’s experience was perhaps the special performance by The Wet Secrets! I really like this band and their songs, and it was one of the things that got me excited when I found out that they were playing at Dîner en Blanc this year. Their custom-made, white version band costume was the cutest thing ever!
