After my first live experience of Matthew Gallagher's FW14 collection at PARKluxe14, it became apparent that it was my mission to see his SS15 collection in Toronto at the World Mastercard Fashion Week.
The one word to describe Matthew Gallagher SS15 is, “Romantic”.
Gallagher uses a playful, yet elegant approach to showcase the cross over of neo classic and minimalism. The models are seen walking down the runway gracefully like flower pedals. The use of angelic rose and pearl white colors softens pieces that reveal architectural shapes, while graphite and black colors add another dimension to the collection.
My particular favorite is the geometric-folds, origami-like dresses - it’s a well thought out process, which may seem subtle, but actually shows the intricate craftsmanship, attention to detail and creativity of Gallagher. The use of satin material promotes sophistication and luxury auras, which Gallagher often display. Matthew Gallagher definitely adds to the list of emerging talents that proves there is more to look forward to in the future as Canadian designers in the fashion industry.
