Contemporary Calgary LOOK2014

LOOK2014, the highly anticipated art gala of the Contemporary Calgary this season, presented by Holt Renfrew, was successful held recently at the Centennial Planetarium. This event not only brought together Calgarians from all industries who share the same passion for contemporary art, but also helped raise funds for the organization which had a mission to elevate art culture of Calgary, and bringing forward its global presence.
The evening consisted of live art-auctions, contemporary art showcase and live art and music performances. VIP admissions also got an opportunity to meet and chat with best-selling author and urban visionary Richard Florida.
Participating the live art-auction has made me realize the tremendous support from a number of Calgarians that appreciate contemporary art. This city should really embrace that and propose an initiative that promotes young Canadian artists, and create a market for their artwork.
As much as I feel inspired by this event, I do wish to see more showcase of arts throughout the venue. The Centennial Planetarium is a vast space with countless opportunities to develop creative art projects. I can’t wait to see what Contemporary Calgary has planned in their near future exhibitions.
