YYC Dîner en Blanc - A Success
(Dîner en Blanc Calgary official photos)
As the Americans celebrated their July 4th, YYC kept up the rejoiceful atmosphere with its very first Dîner en Blanc. The secret location was revealed one hour prior to the dinner event, and it was at the Central Memorial Park. Though we were bombarded with rain during the dinner event, it hadn't stop our guests from embracing this tradition originated from France. More than 1,300 people attended, and one of greatest moments of the evening was all 1,300+ guests were "white-hattd" - an authentic Calgary ceremony where guests were presented with the traditional white cowboy hats under oath - This definitely segregated YYC's Dîner en Blanc than any other versions around the globe.
From the orgainzer: "Our deepest thanks to all of our partners that rallied to give the city of Calgary a much-needed joyous celebration after the unprecedented flooding experienced. Dîner en Blanc is about the celebration of life – and dressed in 1,300 white hats that is what we did in true Calgary form," says Cory Edwards, co-host of Calgary’s Dîner en Blanc.
