BURST is an art presentation that showcases the magnificent works of artists who use glass as their form of art medium. The challenge behind it for these artists was to partnered this intricate art into couture fashion. It is definitely not something we would wear normally, but couture fashion is all about the dramatic entrance composed by the visions of the glass artist, execution of the stylist, and the performance of the models. YYC's very own BURST glass couture fashion show happened past weekend at the downtown 8th Ave Place artsy venue. This event attracted the participation of international artists and guests, including ones from Brazil and Japan. Unlike fabric, utilizing glass to mold into shapes of body forms is no easy task - the artists did an amazing work executing the final touches of each design, and input their own unique artistic nature. Some of my favourite pieces of the night include "Rain" by Jin Won Han and Teresa Burrows' first nation culture inspired: "Rupertsland Regalia" and "Caribou Women In Her Flowers".
BURST is proudly supported by MOCA gallery & museum YYC.
