Helmut Lang AW13/14 and Jason Wu AW13/14 - NYFW

Before I begin my New York adventure coming in the next few days, just wanted to mention that after months of working with the SCHMANCY 2013 committee here in YYC - the big event finally happened last night at the Glenbow Museum. I'd only gotten positive feedbacks by so many people, it was undeniably a huge success - Thank you so much for inviting Binzento as a part of the social media committee this year. I had lots of fun working with Holt Renfrew, Sophia Models International and Glenbow Museum partnerships. My team (Stuart, Odessa, and Paul) worked diligently and effectively on the five-part promo videos (which I am sure some of you have already watched), and making sure they were online on-time! Thanks guys! George Stroumboulopoulos was superb charismatic in his part of the presentation (will tell more in subsequently blog post) in the evening. So stay tuned for the SCHMANCY post-event blog post to come very soon! For now, lets look at Helmut Lang and Jason Wu AW13/14 collections at the New York Fashion Week!

Helmut Lang AW13/14
I've always loved Helmut Lang - not the fashion house per se, but the Austrian designer himself. He is one of those designers that convinces me sometimes "less is more". His minimalistic approach to interpret complex fashion designs is unique at his time - and often his work reminds me of another one of my beloved designer Yohji Yamamoto. Although Helmut Lang no longer partake in the designs of the Helmut Lang Fashion House - the minimalistic style hasn't been completely lost as seen in the AW13/14 collection. The known "black-grey-white" ensemble can still be found, adding cutting edge geometric shapes to enhance details in the most simpliest way.

Jason Wu AW13/14
Personally, I like Jason Wu in his fashion doll line more than his actual life-size fashion collection. I won't deny that some of the pieces in the latest AW13/14 composed of elegant silhouettes. It just didn't excite me (at all if I would say). Perhaps because I have a huge collection of his "Fashion Royalty fashion dolls" at home, and having seeing those everyday seems to have desensitized my taste for his AW13/14 collection.
