See You 2013, Hello 2014 in Hawaii

WELCOMING 2014 in Honolulu
(photos: Binzento)
I can't believe it's been been more than two weeks since my last post. Despite my completion of my grad studies, the busy schedule and on-going projects have kept me away from writing on my blog. Realizing that "work" is never finished, I've decided to take a small vacay in Honolulu with the Tollerud family -- so this is going to be a short post in the midst of my vacation mode. The sun and blue sky, and the beach is exactly what I needed contrary to the harsh and snowy winter in YYC. The lack of vitamin D in YYC has knocked me some depression, this getaway will definitely help re-energize my mind and body.
I spent most of my time in the first couple days in Honolulu relaxing and going to the beach. We had a fabulous dinner last night at Roy's - a popular Hawaiian fusion cuisine restaurant, which is also heavily influenced by Japanese traditions. The chef's beats salad and "Simply Vegan" dish were simiply amazing.
Today is the last day before welcoming the year 2014. My biggest new year's resolutions are getting more sleep and of course continue bringing interesting stories on Binzento Vincente. There are many exciting things lined up for the blog in the coming year and I can't wait to share them after I get back from my vacation. Tonight prior to the fireworks and count-down here at the Ko'Olina beach, we will be heading to a show by Bill Maher, the famous American stand-up comedian and political commentator. For now, I wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR and BEST WISHES in the new 2014! xx

Tiger of Sweden Presents Tailored Attitude for SS14

Tiger of Sweden Presents Tailored Attitude for SS14

Woot! I am happy to know that my favorite Swedish label Tiger of Sweden is hitting a big wave in Canada this spring and summer.

Channelling its inner rebel, Tiger of Sweden showed its edgiest collection to date for Spring/Summer 2014. Injecting traditional clean Scandinavian lines with attitude, the SS14 collection is filled with on-trend details that juxtapose the sharp tailoring the brand is known for with loose and flowing pieces.

With clothing for men and women, as well as accessories, the Swedish brand has given classics like the two-piece suit and the pleated skirt a contemporary twist—available in stores across Canada this spring.

“For Spring we wanted to give the collection attitude, so we created pieces that are modern takes on the traditional Scandinavian design that Tiger of Sweden is known for - with an unexpected twist,” said Tine Grandahl, who co-designed the women’s collection for Tiger of Sweden with Shena Neville“This collection is really about being daring and taking a stand.”

For men, Tiger of Sweden focused on incorporating structured and patterned surfaces to its traditional take on menswear and suiting. Micro-patterns and punk-inspired detailing on expertly tailored pieces offer men an alternative to standard suiting, perfect for the boardroom and beyond. In addition to the geometric prints, for SS14 a custom tartan was created exclusively for Tiger of Sweden and a limited edition of the jacket will be hitting shelves in the spring.

Using a foundation of black, white and grey, the SS14 women’s collection builds on a soft palette of pastel tones like dusty pink, purple and blue to soften the hard edge of the collection. The collection relied on lean silhouettes with boxy, oversized garments in juxtaposition to the streamlined pieces. Heavy detailing like zippers and leather combined with leopard print, checks and stripes gives the collection a strong direction for SS14. Crop tops beneath tailored suiting offers an on-trend twist to power dressing.

Korean Fashion Brand Young and Tae Opens Flagship Store in Toronto

First-ever flagship location for Korean brand Young and Tae opens in Toronto
Young and Tae announced the opening of their first-ever brick and mortar store, located in Toronto. The upscale retail brand will be selling its shoe and accessory line, designed and manufactured in Seoul, South Korea. Located at 630A Queen St. W., the store opened its doors to the public since Wednesday, December 11. The line is also available across Canada at: www.youngandtae.com.

Owners Jenny and David Kim created Young and Tae as a tribute to Jenny’s parents, who have been in the business of manufacturing and wholesaling women’s shoes in South Korea for more than 35 years. The brand marries the accessible prices points of direct distribution, with the fashion-forward styles typical of the Asian and European markets. Young and Tae will inject quality, value and style into Toronto’s retail landscape, just in time for the holiday season.

We’re thrilled to introduce our Young and Tae brand to a fashion-forward market such as Toronto,” said David and Jenny Kim. “Canadians will appreciate our stylish, contemporary designs, available at amazing prices.”

The 1,800 square foot store was conceptualized by architect Bennet Lo, principal at notable design firm Dialogue 38. The space embodies a fresh, modern aesthetic, using natural materials to showcase the handcrafted shoes. The clean look is achieved by using oak plywood panels to create a natural feel throughout the store. Modular display podiums create a gentle curve through various heights and placements throughout the space.
