Uptown 17th Ave Food & Fashion 2012
Week 2: Primitive at Borgo
Week 2 of this year's YYC Uptown 17th Ave Food & Fashion we saw Primitive Culture's contemporary selection of fashion at the authentic Italian dining realm Borgo Trattoria. It brought back my memory and it seemed like it was yesterday when this "duo" (boutique + restaurant) worked together for last year's show. Primitive is known for carrying cutting-edge fashion pieces from all over the world. With the help of fashion stylist Leah Van Loon (LVL), the show revealed a heavy pre-Raphaelite inspiration.
The girls walked the "restaurant runway" with boho-chic attitudes. The overall look contained multi-cultural influences, perfectly matched Primitive's global knowledge of fashion. My favourite look of the night was oversized garments and flowey trouser, accessorized with a top hat and shawl - an androgynous look of both feminity and masculinity.
The crowd had a positive response of the show, which is not surprising with the fine quality menu of Borgo and superb styles selections from Primitive styled by LVL. Lets not forget to mention the shoes sponsored by Gravity Pope on 17th. Week 3 of Uptown 17th Ave Food & Fashion will continue this coming Sunday. Stayed tune for more coverage by Binzento Vincente.
