Banana Republic Anna Karenina Collection

Banana Republic Winter Collection Inspired by Anna Karenina
Banana Republic new winter collection Anna Karenina is inspired by the novel (1877) of the same name. Written by Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, the story is a tragic tale of a woman name Anna Karenina, who was a married aristocrat and socialite. It's a battle of personal and social issues, as Anna Karenina tries to cope with her interpersonal relationships while maintaining her social status in the upper-class society. The novel was adapted into various theatre and film productions. Banana Republic's Anna Karenina collection emphasizes the opulent lifestyle of Russian aristocrats during the late 1800's. Added are military designs and modern sophistication to translate "the story" into the present time. Using black shade as the main focus creates mysterious and chic flavors. There are little over 50 pieces in this collection for women including dresses, faux fur stole, clutches, accessories and capes. For men there are about 20 pieces including double breasted coat, wool houndstooth top coat and pants. Anna Karenina collection is now available as of today on Banana Republic's online store: http://www.BananaRepublic.com. Check the lookbook photos below to get the first feel of the collection.

Swimco Hanson Square Location Opened!

Swimco Hanson Square 17th Ave Grand Opening
YYC swimwear and apparel company Swimco opened its 25th location at Hanson Square 17th Ave last week. The story of Swimco was inspiring, as the president of the company Lori Bacon told us that Swimco is a family business. It all began in 1975 by her mother as a mail-order company, working out of their basement. After years of hardwork and dedication in building customers' trusts and satisfaction, Swimco has now become one of the largest Canadian swimwear retailers.
Lori Bacon, President of Swimco

The grand opening at Hanson Square was an intimate cock-tail party, and our YYC stylist Kim Flanagan was invited to be the evening's MC. The party also consisted a swimwear show, showcasing some of Swimco's current season's merchandize and swimwear ideas.
I know that the winter season is approaching, but knowing Calgarians we love to fight the cold temp and stay active - we would swim in an indoor pool if we have to. Otherwise, we'll travel to sandy beaches as our winter break vacay, and getting the perfect set of swimwear is the perfect timing for that purpose. Swimco Hanson Square is located at 917 17th Ave SW, Calgary. For more info about products visit Swimco online: http://www.swimco.com/

Tiffany's 175th Anniversay - The Legacy Of Love

Breakfast at Tiffany's - The Intimate Blogger Diamonds Event
I was honored to be among one of the few bloggers to be invited to Tiffany & Co.'s "Intimate Blogger Breakfast" event last week here in YYC. Even with the bad road condition in the morning due to the snow, it didn't stop us from experiencing the classic Audrey Hepburn "Breakfast at Tiffany's" moment. Our breakfast table was neatly set up upon our arrival. On it were signature Tiffany & Co.'s diamond rings, made with some of the rarest stones in the world, for our viewing pleasure.

This year is the 175th anniversary of the premier jeweler and for this special moment to celebrate its milestone in diamond heritage, Tiffany & Co. debuts Colors of Wonder: The Rarest Diamonds in the World.
The collection is a "marvel of nature", and is truly appreciated by diamond lovers. The colorful stones radiate glamour surrounded by sparkling-white diamonds, each carefully selected by Tiffany's specialists to ensure they meet the high quality standard of Tiffany & Co.. They're elegant, timeless, and stories to be told for generations to come. At the breakfast table, we were given opportunities to try on some of these precious rings. My favorite was the Tiffany Yellow Diamond ring, which displayed the meticulous work of Tiffany craftsman, the clarity and cut was just phenomenal.
Sarah Geddes of Sass Communications and Tiffany & Co. (Chinook Centre) Store Director Elizabeth Hellebrand

Store director Elizabeth Hellebrand explained the histories of Tiffany's diamonds, and how it became the symbol of "true love" and the traditions of engagement rings. The Tiffany Setting engagement ring was introduced in 1886 by founder Charles Lewis Tiffany, who started a trend and soon became a tradition. The engagement ring as we know it today is the creation of Tiffany & Co., the world's diamond authority and jeweler of true love.
Like Sarah Geddes said to me on Twitter: "Who said diamonds are (only) girls' best friend", and she is right - I couldn't get my eyes (and finger) off the Tiffany Soleste ring, which is a cushion modified brilliant diamond encircled a double row of exquisite bead-set diamonds - it's superb. The yellow gold combination revealed the rising trend of utilizing mixed opulent materials, perfect for fashion lovers.
The breakfast was delightful, it was a fun and relaxed way to meet and greet the representatives and learn things that I didn't know before about the diamonds at Tiffany's. Tiffany & Co. generously gave each of the guest a specialized Tiffany & Co. accessory as well as a sterling silver Tiffany & Co. USB stick. Thank you so much for this invite, and of course Sarah Geddes for organizing us to get together. For more info on Tiffany Diamonds, be sure to visit their official website HERE.
Photo with Sarah and Elizabeth - and of course I had to wear Tiffany blue shirt for this occasion :)

Runway Monthly October Edition

Runway Monthly 2012 Final Installment
October Edition
(Photos by: Paul Lee. Edited by: Binzento Vincente)
Past Saturday marked the end of 2012's Runway Monthly. The final installment, October edition showcased collection by MacKenzie Jones featuring Danielle Cameron, Salonska, Rukhsana Nadeem, Apt 22 and Pusch. Though I was on another assignment that evening and couldn't make it there on time, I had a few eyes and photographer Paul Lee assisting with the show run-down and photos. The host of the evening was YYC stylist Kim Flanagan. Based on the audience review, MacKenzie Jones' showcase was the most "artistic" and creative. Something interestingly different with this last installment's runway was the added choreography during MacKenzie Jones' show. It was Salonska's debute to YYC's audience on a runway show with heavy ethnic-inspired middle eastern fashion pieces. The last installment of Runway Monthly also had silent auctions of fashion pieces donated by local designers and boutiques. The proceeds helped fund Canadian charity Starlight Children's Foundation. Below are some of the screen caps of the evening.

Special thanks to Paul Lee and GarmannLee for photos and info.
