Enrico Coveri SS13 Milan Men's Fashion Week/ Upcoming YYC Events in July

Italian label Enrico Coveri brought its signature chromatic color essentials on the runway. The brightness of colors is especially what makes spring/summer fashion worthwhile. There is always that party soul living inside Enrico Coveri's designs. They are fun, charismatic, and express a care-free persona. What makes it even more relevant to that description were these photos shot by photographer Sonny Vandevelde backstage during the Enrico Coveri's show. It's cute and some of the models' expressions/actions made Coveri's collection even more desirable.

Check out these two YYC events in July where you'll find Binzento Vincente there :)

Designer Clothing Sale Event YYC/ Carven Men's SS13 Runway Show at Pitti Uomo N°82

So my friends Ania Boniecka (model), Kara ChomistekJennie Lyle (stylist) and couple other fashionistas decided to clean up their closet by selling some of their most amazing fashion pieces (for both ladies and gents) at VERY low price, and I am totally not exaggerating when I say "VERY low".

At the sale, you'll find brands including Chloe, Alexander Wang, H&M limited edition pieces, SupremePrada, Dior, YSL, Marc By Marc Jacobs and many more!! The prices range between $10-$400 CAD. If you want one of a kind pieces, then also check out sample pieces on sale from our YYC local designer Jalu!!

The sale event will happen coming Saturday, June 30th, 11am - 5pm. If you are in town (Calgary that is) this weekend, then you better not miss this!! I've already got a few friends asking me about this event, so there's guaranteed some competition ;)…  Location: 816 13th Ave SW (back alley lot). Check out their Facebook page and get a glimpse of what's being sold:

In town but not sure how to get there? Check the map below:

A neat concept by French label Carven: the French meets Italian. In Florence, head designer Guillaume Henry decided it would be a superb idea to showcase Carven SS13 collection at thPitti Uomo N°82 during the most intense waiters race.
As guests sat in the centre of the field enjoying their 5 course meal, they got their entertainment watching professional waiters in their uniforms competing around the racetracks with a tray full of wine glasses and bottles, while at the same time, they also got a glimpse of the handsome menswear, creatively directed by Guillaume Henry for Carven
Guillaume Henry & winner of the waiter race: Maurizio Pino

The collection revealed a wide range of colors, displaying youthful, sporty styles in the sophiscated "dining arena". The adrenalin rushed race somewhat brought humor to the dinning experience. The finale of the runway show ended with annoucing the winner of the race, Maurizio Pino, who was acknowledged and acclaimed by the crowd. Adding the dramatic effect, trumpet/trumbone band played proudly the Italian anthem. I could only imagine this would be one of the most interesting and memorable shows.

Runway Monthly YYC June Edition

Runway Monthly June Edition
One month had gone by with just a blink of an eye, and it was that time again: the June Edition of Runway Monthly in YYC. This month we had four local designers showcasing their current season collections. They were Cherry Chic Designs, Chantel Traub (with Nuage 9), Malika Couture, and apiana que. The MC for the June Edition of Runway Monthly was Sabrina May of Sabrina May Public Relations.

Cherry Chic Designs
Cherry Chic Designs surprised me western Stampede styles at the start of the show. It was a creative way to capture crowds' attention. Especially when we are closing in to the 100th anniversary Calgary Stampede celebration. Cherry Chic Designs showcased casual everyday wear for women, and ladies may find them approachable because of its functionality. Style wise I would say it was somewhat on the conservative side. The overall focus from what I saw was practicality over creativity.

Chantel Traub (with Nuage 9)
Chantel Traub could very well be my favourite show of the night. As a textile artist, I admire her ability to dye/paint and design her own prints for her garments. Collaborating on this runway with local handbag label Nuage 9 actually worked quite well. The two pairing together added sophistication touch, and feminity. The choice of handbag to match with the evening party dress executed well, despite a difficult task when the two labels did not design the look together. It's worthwhile, in my opinion, for the two to collaborate a design in future collections.

Malika Couture
It's my first time seeing Malika Couture's pieces. Similar to Cherry Chic Designs, Malika Couture work towards the mainstream line. This collection had used several floral print designs. There was a subtle cultural ethnicity to these pieces. In celebrating the birthday of Marilyn Monroe in the month of June, Marlika created the Marilyn Monroe inspired, portrait one piece dress.
apiana que
apiana que's pieces at Runway Monthly reminded me of spending summer vacation on an island with white sandy beach. For summer styles, she was dead on with the theme. These pieces were also shown previously during the PARKshow event earlier in spring. My favourite piece is still the long train dress. The dress looks very animated as the model walk down the runway, and the train flows in motion .
There were several changes since the June Edition of Runway Monthly. First, the show now occurs on a Saturday evening instead of a weeknight, which allows a better time slot for people who are only available during the weekends. I also liked how the show this time got much brighter lights for photos. Surely, the good amount of lamps, an early show, and YYC's long summer daylight hours helped. For more photos (and videos) of the event, you can visit Runway Monthly Facebook page:

There will be no Runway Monthly in the month of July, since there will be much more happening for the 100th year celebration of the Calgary Stampede. The next one will be in mid-August, so stayed tune!

Here are some more photos I took of my friends/people at the event :)

Pivot Glenbow Summer Block Party/ Versace Men SS13

Pivot Glenbow Summer Block Party 2012
(photos by: Binzento Vincente; KO)
YYC Glenbow Museum hosted the Pivot Glenbow Summer Block Party last Thursday, on solstice day (the longest day stretch of 2012), to welcome Pivot members and friends for a fun "night" of art, music, and food on Stephen's Ave. Our daylight hours are known to extend past 10:00pm during summer seasons, and as some might agree, this is one of the best times to have outdoor evening parties while the sun is still shining!
Luckily, we didn't have any rain that day and it was the perfect weather for this event. There was live art, DJ music by The Bass Bus and several local food trucks serving delicious snacks. There was also a "party bus" for people to mingle indoor on the scene. The bus had a wooden artsy interior decor with some window illustrations.

There is LOTS happening this summer at the Glenbow Museum, especially with the 100th Anniversary Stampede Celebration. Current exhibition includes Charlie Russell and the First Calgary Stampede, where it showcased commission work of Charlie Russell for the first ever Calgary Stampede ONE CENTURY ago! There is also the Calgary Stampede antiques collection being showcased for audience to relive the historic moments of Canada's largest outdoor rodeo.

Thank you Pivot Glenbow for hosting this fun party, and KO for inviting Binzento Vincente to be a part of it. xo

Versace Men SS13
(photos source: Versace)

At the SS13 Men's Milan Fashion Week. Italian fashion house Versace decided to go for the "Gladiator", "Wrestling Champion" theme this season. To take things literally, they'd included "champion belts" in their runway pieces. It's neat, but somehow again, I found it quite redunctant and honestly nothing exciting. I remembered blogging about WWE wrestler attires blogs ago and mentioned how they'd became quite a fashion statement these days. They were also bringing back some metallic and continue using floral/illustration patterns in pieces. The SS13 collection hence didn't get me to WOW. My favourite piece however, was the Japanese inspired Yutaka style long jacket, double breasted blazer and shorts. Other than that, I much prefer some of the Versace men's suits this season. It has a really good traditional vibe and maintained the quality of classic Italian fashions.
