Gotta ♡ Paul Hardy - Paul Hardy Fashion, Art & Design Party

Oh…How I miss attending fashion event with my miss correspondent KO. Tonight we attended a Fashion, Art & Design Party at the Paul Hardy Atelier, hosted by famous Canadian fashion designer Paul Hardy himself. The evening consisted of artwork features from The Weiss Gallery, interior designs by industrial artist Cory Barkman, and last but not least, Fall 2011 fashion by Paul Hardy and a preview of his Spring 2012 collection.
Paul Hardy

For those who are unfamiliar with Paul Hardy, he is one of the most innovative Canadian fashion designers who'd placed Canada on a global map in the fashion industry. Early in his career, he was already compared to the likes of Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney. Over the last ten years, he'd made an astonishing achievement in fashion by offering the best Canadian designs via his exceptional talent. His work was described as "Oscar worthy" by celebrity stylist Philip Bloch and The New York Post , after showcasing in various fashion events held in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and Toronto. He was also praised by fashion magazines as the new rising star and one of the freshest new talent in the fashion world.

Paul Hardy Atelier on Kensington, in Calgary is one of Paul's free standing Paul Hardy store in Canada. I noticed a lot of neutral colors were displayed in the collection tonight. Many of the pieces were shown in Ombre, turquoise, and beige colours, in combination with some black and white work. The fine sewn details, shiny linings and patterns were elegant and very delicate. I especially love x3 this dress, which reminded me of McQueen, except that this piece took away that McQueen's eerie-ness, instead gave it something more "pure and innocent".

Paul was a busy guy tonight, everyone found their opportunity to mingle/catch-up with this talented man. I've seen Paul Hardy's work in numerous occasions, but this is in fact my first time meeting the designer in person. Though we only had a brief introduction and had minimal of time to converse tonight, I am sure I will meet him again in the near future. As I spoke with one of his assistants, I was actually thinking of asking Paul to custom one of his men's collection piece for me, or the Binzento Vincente blog.

Next week is the Vancouver Fashion Week. I can't wait to see some of the work there. I also wish my friend Daryl White of D.W, which will be showcasing his collection there, a successful fabulous show.

Also, check out my cool LA designer Aldofo Sanchez new Spring/Summer 2012 collection:

Finally, like to mention that blog tabs update are still on the way, I've been a busy bee over the last couple weeks. I am aiming to finish the blog tabs during the weekends! :) Stay-tuned!

Jalu - The Fashion Goddess of Love & Peace

When it comes to bringing back the memoirs of the youthful 70's and the bohemian style, I'm confident to say that Jalu designs by Luanne Ronquillo, is one of the most prominent labels in YYC that express these elements. First time I came across Jalu was during the spring PARK sale event. Her designs I found are often "earthy" and very much inspired by the beauty of nature.

Oversized, avant-garde garments are displayed in many of the pieces. Instead of patterns in textile, Jalu mastered natural elements by creating unique linings from fabrics. Binzento Vincente was invited to Jalu's new collection presentation at Hedkandi past Saturday along with many fashion and fashion-related guests/potential buyers.

While maintaining the usual Jalu's style as mentioned above, it was also interesting to see some of the designs in this new collection revealed a shift from the rigid playful look to a subtly romantic style. It almost felt like Jalu have focused bringing maturity to the current displays. The new Jalu collection though can sometimes presented as rebelliousforward-thinking, and an attempt to be different, one can in fact look closely and find it to be honest and truly full of "Love & Peace" at heart.

Binzento Vincente wore one of Jalu's signature design to the event.

Thank you Jalu for the invitation, there are a few pieces in mind that I like, so I'll definitely make my purchase soon. You can find Jalu at: http://shop.jalu.ca/Default.asp

Bollywood Fashion Show

I was graciously invited to the Bollywood Fashion Show, which happened past Friday evening at the Magnolia Banquet Hall YYC. I didn't know much about the Bollywood fashion scene, nor have I ever been to any of their fashion events. I did however, knew that often intensive colours, such as bright red, green, yellow and gold patterns/linings are often used in their styles.  Bollywood fashion often gave me the festive energy, and full of enthusiasm. The Bollywood Fashion Show didn't disappoint me in that sense.
Designer: Aman Dhalay doing final touches on the models.

Designer Aman Dhalay of Javeda Fashions was the main feature of the night's event. She infused the cultural East Indian fashion with modern edginess in this latest collection.  The traditional saree can be seen on the female models, with the "sparkles in your eyes" sequins decoration. My favourite piece is the blue one-shoulder evening party dress and the vibrant floral embroidered pants with an elegant combination of of Euro-inspired high waist-line coat. Aman Dhalay has the best of both East Indian and Western cultures that can consistently be seen in this collection.

This fashion show broadened my knowledge in the transition of traditional to modern Bollywood fashion. The organization team really worked hard this time and did an excellent job promoting this event to the community beyond the Indian culture. It brightened our sense of fashion and it's always nice to see something that's different.

The night ended with an authentic Punjabi club DJ mix party. Guest performers of the night included UK celebrity DJ Punjabi MC, Artist Jessie Manak, DJ Gagan Rehill, and Solomon. Binzento Vincente had a great time dancing his night away!

Heroes Chinook/ Blo for Hope (Breast Cancer Fundraiser)

This week, YYC continued to surprise me with its effort to prove it has the potential to represent a fashion and culturally diverse community. It's been a busy Binzento Vincente week pushing my limit to cover as many as possible the interesting events happening in the city. First and foremost, I like to thank all my readers for the comments they'd submitted. Secondly, I really appreciate all the positive feedbacks I've been getting on my new column "Real People w/ Real Styles". If you haven't read, Joshua McKenney, an artist from New York is this week's "Real Style" feature.

Heroes Chinook Customer Appreciation

Back to today's blog entry. I attended Heroes (menswear) Chinook customer appreciation party on Thursday night. In fact, I promised Calgary Fashion that I will be covering this story for them. The Calgary Fashion editors are currently in Toronto Fashion Week, which I can't wait to hear their stories when they return.
I won't be talking a whole lot about this event in this blog entry, since my full article on Heroes Chinook will be posted in Calgary Fashion website soon. However, I do want to mentioned that Heroes Chinook impressed me with their expansion of labels, including ones that are less appreciated in YYC but lived up being good quality level menswear.

Fred Perry is one of my likes in terms of casual wear and being a guy grew up in Levi's in Hong Kong, I was satisfied that they carried those in their stores.
Heroes guys: Justin; Sean; Cody

Sean Clancy is the store manager and also a fashion model, he told me that the store currently carried runway pieces and also Diesel Black Gold label, exclusively in Heroes in YYC. Every clients walked in that night received Heroes goodie bag. Live music performance by Lou Rye accompanied the party,  I even vid recorded one of his tunes :)

Remember to stay tuned for my Calgary Fashion article on Heroes Chinook!

Blo for Hope

On the same night, I also attended Blo for Hope at the Sociale, a charity fundraiser for Wings of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. The YYC based foundation was established to provide financial assistant to those undergoing breast cancer treatment at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Being a part of the cancer research, and also work closely to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, I usually give my uttermost support to any sort of cancer related fundraiser event. I think the PINK in Blo really represented well for the breast cancer campaign.

The night consisted of mingling with the Blo people and of course other fashionistas and fashion/lifestyle bloggers. There were also "hair Blo" demonstrations at the lounge. All the guests were served with PINK martinis and PINK treats, and were also given Blo pink pins. I think Anna (owner of YYC Blo) did an amazing job bringing awareness of local charity to the community. For instance, I never knew about Wings of Hope until Blo mentioned it via hosting a social event.

Being a part of this world,  I believe it is important to engage in the concept of "pay it forward", and help the less fortunate within one's ability.

I had an ammmaaazzzing time at the Bollywood Fashion Show last night. Most of it were the energy and panjabi music (…okay and booze). I pretty much danced my way out the door. Blog post on Bollywood Fashion Show is next! :) Stay-tuned.
